Comics... Why Not?

If by now you've delved into some picture books and begun to like the appeal of visual elements in literature, maybe you should try comic books.

I know, I know. That's nerdy.

But it isn't.

Comic books have always been popular with younger audiences, but now they're aiming to entertain adults as well.

Not only do comics allow you to read a story, they show you the story as well. This allows the way the story is perceived to be more heavily influenced by the author.

The author could, for example, use a different color shirt on a character for their different moods. Seeing these hints visually help readers to identify and retain their meanings.

Comics also give upcoming artists a chance to work with authors to create both of their visions.

And you don't have to actually buy comic books anymore. There are websites all over the internet that alow you to read a good bit of comics for free.

Personally, I like the website Webtoon because it allows underground artists-- who aren't as recognized as they should be-- to create their comics and put them out for others to read and review. You can even donate to the artist or artists of your choosing to allow them to focus more on their craft.

However, if Webtoon isn't your style, there are tons of other websites that have comics available to read. My second favorite one of these sites is Toomics.
